Spring Season is Near in Bend, Oregon

Customarily in real estate, the spring season is the time of year that we see increases in the number of homes being purchased and sold in Central Oregon. Realtors are optimistic that spring 2012 could well be one of the best real estate has seen in quite some time. There are a number of indications pointing to an encouraging spring in 2012: property affordability is at a record high, mortgage rates are low, inventories are decreasing and the hopeless unemployment situation seems to finally be coming to an end.

Existing home sales have already edged up in the past few months, which has led to a drop in for-sale house inventories. At the end of December 2011, there were almost 2.4 million units for sale, the lowest figure since 2005 when all the real estate difficulties arouse.

Regardless of all of these hopeful signs, a fruitful spring showing is by no means guaranteed. The big difficulty for many remains the firm mortgage lending guidelines that have left a lot of potential buyers in no position to secure credit. Foreclosures will continue to be a burden, putting pressure on house prices in many areas.
